Laila Olomi Waziri

Laila has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2021. Laila Waziri was born in Kabul, Afghanistan and immigrated to the US in 1980. She primarily worked as a banker and later with the Afghan Embassy in Washington, D.C. She spent most of her early years as a widower raising her three boys in Northern Virginia. She has devoted her life to the resettlement of Afghan families in the United States.
Her work started with the International Federation of Afghan Women from 1997 to 2006. During her time with the International Federation of Afghan Women she facilitated the sponsorship of many Afghan families to the US. She also provided guidance to families getting settled in the Northern Virginia metropolitan area.
She later resettled in Southern California, where she worked with Afghan widows and orphans. Laila has served as a board member for The Afghan Women’s Association of Southern California, Helping Hand Relief for the Poor. In addition to her commitments to IOC, she currently is dedicating time to work with Afghan Refugee Relief.
